In the dying moments, sheer ecstasy erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, was a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being seconded from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
