Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
